Pierre Bonnefille is interested in the art of writing, the codes of which he adapts for his home collection, ‘Calligraphy.’ Through the game of graphics associated with writing, Pierre Bonnefille superimposes projected phrases on the material’s surface in an indistinct and repetitive manner.

In this series, Pierre Bonnefille concerns himself with the aesthetic force of a text through Roman calligraphy and manuscript typology. Engraved on mass and then painted on the gray surface, the inscribed text is repeated infinitely, like a refrain, a poem, a prayer.

— As with the invented hieroglyphics, words of a fleeting calligraphy, Pierre Bonnefille inscribes a pulsating handwriting into the material, a form of automatic writing guided by the artist’s movement.
